The Crimean War: Defence of Sevastopol

The book is a chronology of the events of the Crimean War of 1853-1856.  In particular, it describes the heroic defense of Sevastopol, which was an unprecedented feat for the Russian army, from its soldiers and sailors to its generals and admirals. Written for children and young adults, “The Crimean War: Defense of Sevastopol” is from the series “Great Generals and Admirals of Russia” by famous Russian explorer, member of Writers Union of Russia and Union of Journalists of Russia, and Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts – Fedor Konyukhov. The book is a chronology of the events of the Crimean War of 1853-1856.  In particular, it describes the heroic defense of Sevastopol, which was an unprecedented feat for the Russian army, from its soldiers and sailors to its generals and admirals. Along with a description of the actions of the defenders of Sevastopol, there are accounts of real-life historical figures, such as Grand Duke Menshikov, the first commander-in-chief of the defense of Crimea, and Grand Duke Gorchakov, who replaced Menshikov, as well as Admirals Nakhimov, Kornilov, Istomin, and General Totleben.  We see generals and officers, as well as ordinary soldiers, sailors and residents of Sevastopol, who covered themselves in glory with their exploits. The book was published in commemoration of the 3rd Anniversary of the Reunification of the Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia with the support of the RosVoenTsentr and Russian Federation Government. The book is in its second edition, and is donated to schools, libraries, youth organizations and military-patriotic clubs, aimed at the patriotic education of the younger generation.
