Headwind

19 February 2019

Good weather was replaced by a headwind. The wind is now from the northeast, while the current is from due south, exactly from 180° direction. Therefore, the wind is pushing the boat to the south, while the current is dragging it to the north. I am caught up in between and trying to break through to the south, trying to slip out of this confrontation of the elements. According to the weather forecast, the headwind will strengthen, so this week will be difficult and, most importantly (and frustrating) for me, I will not be able to move along the course, and it looks like I will even have to drift back towards New Zealand. So, when you see my zigzag track, don’t worry, I’m fine, it’s just that the Southern Ocean is testing me and the boat once again.
