On December 5th 2024 at 5.30 a.m., Fedor Konyukhov has set off on a solo voyage on the rowboat “AKROS” from the Drake Passage, which separates South America and Antarctica, heading towards Australia.
The traveler will have to cover 185 degrees from west to east, through the South Atlantic and the South Indian Ocean. Fedor Konyukhov will move from 56 degrees south latitude (the closest to Antarctica), north, towards Australia.
Ahead is an unprecedented in the history of ocean rowing, an incredible in length route – in the “roaring forties and furious fifties” of the Southern Ocean. No one has ever been on a rowing boat in these latitudes before, let alone crossed two oceans at once in one season (the South Atlantic and the South Indian Ocean).
You can follow the route map here.
