{"id":9662,"date":"2019-04-28T21:40:47","date_gmt":"2019-04-28T21:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/konyukhov.ru\/?p=9662"},"modified":"2019-04-29T06:41:15","modified_gmt":"2019-04-29T06:41:15","slug":"day-143","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/konyukhov.ru\/en\/day-143\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 143"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Christ is Risen!<\/p>\n<p>Happy Easter to all Orthodox Christians! \u00a0Thank God for letting us live to see this day.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to be on dry land that day, but I could not get there. \u00a0Cape Horn is still 400 nautical miles away as the crow flies (730 km). \u00a0When I rowed the first 500 miles after departing from New Zealand, the time flew by, seemingly I have just left, but already had 500 miles behind me. \u00a0But now, the remaining 400 miles can require more than two weeks. \u00a0And two weeks in these latitudes and on a rowing boat sound like an eternity.<\/p>\n<div class=\"slider-block slider-block--margin-b\">\n            <div class=\"slider-block__inner\">\n              <div class=\"slider-block__list js-slider-block\"><div class=\"slider-block__item\">\n                    <figure>\n                     <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/konyukhov.ru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/28.04.2019-400-miles-to-Cape-Horn.jpg\">\n                    <\/figure>\n                  <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p>This week will be difficult with a lot of southerly wind, which will impede my progress along the course and push the boat closer to the shore. \u00a0I am currently at 54\u201925 southern latitude and I am pleased with these coordinates, but I will be sorry to lose those latitudinal miles when the southerly wind starts blowing. \u00a0It is only 400 km to the land, but I can not get closer to the shore, I must put all my efforts to stay seaward, and try not to cling to the shore.<\/p>\n<div class=\"slider-block slider-block--margin-b\">\n            <div class=\"slider-block__inner\">\n              <div class=\"slider-block__list js-slider-block\"><div class=\"slider-block__item\">\n                    <figure>\n                     <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/konyukhov.ru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/28.04.2019-400-km.jpg\">\n                    <\/figure>\n                  <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Rain does not stop. \u00a0The drizzling rain turns into torrential, then eases to drizzle again. \u00a0It is difficult to detect the boundary between the ocean and the sky, all solid sogginess, like a soaked through blanket.<\/p>\n<p>In a couple of hours from now the wind will intensify to storm force and turn southerly, blowing from Antarctica. \u00a0The air temperature will drop by a couple of degrees, the waves will rise by a couple of meters.<\/p>\n<div class=\"slider-block slider-block--margin-b\">\n            <div class=\"slider-block__inner\">\n              <div class=\"slider-block__list js-slider-block\"><div class=\"slider-block__item\">\n                    <figure>\n                     <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/konyukhov.ru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/28.04.2019-wind.jpg\">\n                    <\/figure>\n                  <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p>If I were to draw parallel with mountaineering, I am now at 8,500 metres altitude and I have to reach the summit of Mount Everest at 8,848 metres. \u00a0It is only 350 meters vertically, but these are the most difficult meters. \u00a0Those who climbed above 8 thousand meters, would understand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Christ is Risen!
