Day 67"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-AU\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">&#8220;Today the \u201cAKROS\u201d and I crossed the 131<sup>st<\/sup> degree of Western longitude, meaning we are in the so-called Eastern sector of the South Pacific Ocean. \u00a0We have left 5,800 kilometres behind us (in total), as well as the \u201csearch and rescue\u201d zone for which New Zealand is responsible. \u00a0From today I will find myself in waters for which Chilean Coastal authorities are responsible. \u00a0But I still have 4,200 kilometres left to Chile and Cape Horn, and there aren\u2019t actually any New Zealand or Chilean vessels in this region, it is nice to know that I am in the ocean\u2019s Chilean sector and am coming closer to the finish.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"slider-block slider-block--margin-b\">\n            <div class=\"slider-block__inner\">\n              <div class=\"slider-block__list js-slider-block\"><div class=\"slider-block__item\">\n                    <figure>\n                     <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/konyukhov.ru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/halfway2.jpg\">\n                    <\/figure>\n                  <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"EN-AU\">You have probably seen the difficulty with which I made my way out of the New Zealand sector. \u00a0A few days ago, the boat made a complete turn for a few days, turning on the spot with a small loss of miles. \u00a0The ocean had been keeping me back for a day before a new storm front appeared, and the boat and I are now moving East. \u00a0For a few days the waves have been like mountains, and it either snows or hails. \u00a0Further south of the 50 degrees Southern latitude there is heavy snow, but further North, at my location, I only see the periodic flurry. \u00a0The boat is covered in wet snow until the waves wash it off. \u00a0The air temperature is around 6<\/span><span lang=\"EN-AU\">\u00b0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-AU\">C, but the wind is icy and it feels like 0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-AU\">\u00b0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-AU\">. \u00a0At night my breath comes out as steam and my hands freeze even in the cabin.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"slider-block slider-block--margin-b\">\n            <div class=\"slider-block__inner\">\n              <div class=\"slider-block__list js-slider-block\"><div class=\"slider-block__item\">\n                    <figure>\n                     <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/konyukhov.ru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/46162168922_2038fbb660_z.jpg\">\n                    <\/figure>\n                  <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-AU\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">I keep a diary and a log, and according to it I have had approximately 70% stormy weather and only 30% favourable weather (up to 20 knots). \u00a0I don\u2019t know whether anybody will find that information useful, but if any other rowers come this way, they must understand and prepare for storms 70% of the time, if they are lucky.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"slider-block slider-block--margin-b\">\n            <div class=\"slider-block__inner\">\n              <div class=\"slider-block__list js-slider-block\"><div class=\"slider-block__item\">\n                    <figure>\n                     <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/konyukhov.ru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/11.02.2019-weather.jpg\">\n                    <\/figure>\n                  <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-AU\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Thank God I have passed halfway. \u00a0What awaits the boat and I in this part of the Pacific Ocean? \u00a0Will I finally be able to reach <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Antarctic_Circumpolar_Current\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the West Wind Drift<\/a><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">?
