Fedor reports via satellite phone Iridium: “Today marks my two months on the ocean. During this time Tourgoyak and I covered almost 4000 miles, rowing from the South Pacific into the tropical latitudes. Now, before us is the expanse of Oceania. I continue to row towards the equator. I need to reach the 10th degree of the southern latitude before approaching Fatu Hiva. Working on changing my course from west to north cost me some mileage: to head north I had to turn the boat parallel to the face of the waves. At this point though, the speed is not as important as adjusting the course in order to have more latitude in passing the island. At dawn I saw a flock of frigate birds. They are an indication that the land is near. The frigate birds don’t spend a night on the ocean but fly back to the land. There are still 400 miles to Fatu Hiva, but seeing these birds brought me a lot of joy.<\/p>\n
With God’s help, I’ve lived on the ocean for two months where each day is a small victory and a new dawn is another success. I pray to the Lord that He will continue to bless me on this undertaking.
