Storm, force 8

17 January 2025

The next two days will bring challenging weather for Fedor. A storm (an active cyclone) is forming in the area where the AKROS boat is located. Starting from the night of January 17 and throughout January 18, there will be stormy weather with winds over 40 knots (nearly 80 km/h) and waves reaching 5-6 meters.

Today Fedor will be preparing for the storm: he plans to pump fresh water using water maker, charge the satellite-tracking buoy, and tie down and secure all items that could be washed overboard by large waves.

This is the first storm since the start of the journey, with winds of 40 knots classified as force 8 on the Beaufort scale.

It will be a test for both the boat and Fedor.

By January 19 (Epiphany), the weather is expected to normalize. The most challenging day will be Saturday, January 18.
